Jamshed Unwala is a director and chief financial officer for Healthcare Management Partners in Philadelphia.
Jamshed draws on more than 25 years of experience in financial management and administration for his work with HMP. In addition to managing HMP's financial operations, he lends his expertise to client projects and helped create the initial accounting structure for the chain of nursing homes that HMP is operating.
During his more than 10 years in healthcare, Jamshed served as the administrator for a multi-specialty group practice at Hahnemann University Hospital. While at this large academic medical center, Jamshed worked with the leadership of the physician group, the hospital and the school of medicine to turn around the group practice and then to arrange its acquisition.
He also served as the director of finance and administration for Covenant House Inc., a federally qualified health center serving the under-insured and uninsured. At Covenant House, Jamshed established a task force to evaluate the organization's capabilities and instituted improvements as a prerequisite to pursuing accreditation by the Joint Commission.
Jamshed has extensive international experience in a number of industries, including healthcare. He has worked for venture-backed start-ups, not-for-profits and large multi-nationals where his positions have included vice-president of finance for a healthcare joint venture in Malaysia and director of finance for an infrastructure reconstruction project in Afghanistan funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Jamshed has a bachelor of science in accounting from the University of Pune in India and a master of business administration from the University of Wisconsin. He is a certified public accountant.
